Ways of Fixing Blind Wand that Won't Turn
If your vertical blind wand is not turning then there are two ways to fix it – By connecting the tilt mechanism or replacing the tilt wand. We will show you both the ways so that you can choose the one that is suitable for your product –
Connecting with Tilt Mechanism
• Step 1: Remove the blinds from the window frame and place them on a plain surface.
• Step 2:Take off the end caps of the headrail by hand.
• Step 3: Check for the headrail at the end of the blind where the tilt wand is placed. You will see one long metal rod that extends across the width of the headrail.
• Step 4: Now, push the wand into the headrail until it connects the tilt mechanism and turn the wand to ensure the slats are working fine.
• Step 5: Place the blinds back on the window.
Replace Tilt Wand
• Step 1: First, eliminate the end stiffener from the edges of the vertical window blinds where the tilt wand is situated.
• Step 2: Remove the C-clamp which is used to support the tilt rod and take out the rod from the wand mechanism.
• Step 3: Put a screwdriver between the seam under the headrail and take away the wand from the headrail.
• Step 4: After releasing the wand tilt mechanism, replace the tilt control with a new one and put it back in the headrail. Re-insert the C-clamp and end stiffeners you removed earlier.
• Step 5: Hang the blinds back into the window and operate them to make sure smooth working functionality.
Depending on the vertical blind type and the damage to wand control, choose one mechanism and implement it. Following the above DIY guidelines will make your job done easier.
